Welcome to Battle Creek Sunday SkiSparks!
Join us for a winter of skiing, games, and learning together during the 2026–2027 season. We offer classic and skate skiing for Levels 1–6. Our club runs on volunteers, and every family’s help makes a difference.
When and where
We meet for nine Sundays, January 3–February 28, 2027, at Battle Creek Recreation Center, 75 Winthrop Street, St. Paul, MN 55119.
Meeting dates: January 3, 10, 17, 24, and 31; February 7, 14, 21, and 28.
Ski sessions run from 2–3:30 p.m. Arrival instructions will be shared before the first session.
Registration
Skier registration opens in phases:
- October 8: Primary on-snow volunteers
- October 19: All volunteers
- October 22 at 9 a.m.: Public registration
Volunteer approvals are processed gradually by role. Equipment rentals are limited, so please plan ahead.
Help our club thrive
Coaches and Assistant Coaches are our greatest recruitment need. MyXC provides a curriculum, activities, games, and training to help volunteers succeed.
- Coaches lead a group through the weekly activities. You do not need to be an elite skier; enthusiasm and a willingness to help children learn are valuable.
- Assistant Coaches support the coach, help with activities, and accompany skiers on the trails.
- Junior Coaches give high-school skiers an opportunity to share their skills and support younger children. Check with your school about service-hour requirements.
- Other volunteers help with equipment, snacks, photography, and keeping groups together on the trails.
Explore volunteer roles and training requirements.
Skis and equipment
- Levels 1–4: Classic skis and boots; Level 1 does not use poles.
- Levels 5–6: Skate skis, boots, and poles.
Our club offers limited seasonal rentals for both classic and skate equipment. Select an available rental option during registration if your skier needs equipment.
For additional rental information, visit Ramsey County’s cross-country skiing page. The MyXC Ski Swap is scheduled for November 21, 2026.
Dress for skiing
For Levels 1–3, dress for active play in the snow. For Levels 4–6, use layers that can be adjusted as skiers warm up.
Bring:
- Warm, dry wool or synthetic socks; avoid cotton
- Warm mittens
- A hat that covers the ears
- A neck warmer
- Weather-appropriate outerwear and layers
Specialized ski clothing is optional.
Ski passes
The club’s current registration settings require a St. Paul All-Access Ski Pass for skiers age 13 and older. Children 12 and under ski free. On-snow volunteers should also review the MyXC ski-pass guidance for applicable requirements and current purchasing information.
Updates and cancellations
We send club updates, schedule changes, and cancellation notices by email and post changes on this page. Please keep your registration email address current and check for updates before leaving home.
Review the general SkiSparks information before the first session.
